FAQs

How soon can I pick up my pieces?

This will depend on the type of service you request. Normally a Full Kiln load can be picked up within 48 hours of the firing (You can even pick up on weekends). You will be contacted by e-mail or phone when the kiln is cool. You may ask to know when your firing is scheduled. If you’re renting one shelf, firing can typically happen within 2 weeks. If you request we fire individual pieces, it could take longer. Timeframes are not guaranteed, but we will try our best. Feel free to call to see when prescheduled firings may be happening.

Do you load the Kiln or do I?

In most cases an experienced technician will be loading the pieces into the kiln. If you request a full kiln load you may want to help with loading and or learn about kiln firing. If you are curious and want to learn how to load a kiln, or about firing in general, a short info session can be scheduled. This will cost $30. Please mention when booking if you’d like to include an kiln firing info session.

What happens if the Kiln doesn’t fire to temperature?

If there is a problem and the kiln underfires the pieces inside, the pieces will be fired again to the correct temperature. Some delays may occur due to potential repairs, but you will be informed in the case of any delay in firing.

What if the Kiln overfires?

Ceramique Centrale strives to provide the best firing experience possible. Our equipment is state of the art, and this type of problem happens rarely. Technicians will closely monitor the firing throughout the process, but particularly at the end to ensure the kiln functions properly. If such a problem should occur with the firing of your work, Ceramique Centrale cannot cover the cost of potential damage to your work.

* Note that if your Clay and Glazes are not properly suited to the type of firing requested, you may be responsable to cover the cost of damage to the shelves or firing chamber.
