Tea Set Workshop

  • Céramique Centrale 5688 Rue de Verdun Verdun Canada (map)

This Tea Set Workshop will give participants a unique chance to explore tea sets and all the ways they show up in our lives. This will be a three part workshop: a lecture and exploration of different tea pots across time and space, a special tea tasting ritual and social, and finally a throwing demonstration with guided making time.

The tea-tasting social will be given by one of our studio members Tiffany, who is bringing back a selection of teas from her visit to family in China. We will get to try out different tea pots and taste different teas together. The cost of the tea-tasting is already included. Please join us for this wonderful and unique experience!

There will be two ways to participate:

1. Six spots for throwers, 12pm - 5pm.

This is for advanced or intermediate students only, as the techniques here can be challenging. This is for the full workshop and includes the clay, firing, and glazing of the tea set you will make. Price: $185

2. Six spots for spectators, 12pm - 3pm.

This is open to absolutely everyone (with an interest in tea!). It includes the lecture, watching the demo, and the tea tasting social. This is a great way to learn and explore making tea sets for those who are not ready yet to throw one, as well as to taste some delicious teas! Price: $95

The workshop is on Saturday November 8th, 12pm to 5pm.

Throwers will get a good start on their tea set and will have all the conceptual and technical tools to make their own set from this workshop. The making time in this workshop will likely not be enough to finish the set, but we will help you schedule more practice time in the studio to complete your work, and the eventual firing and glazing of your set is included in the workshop price.

Please email tressa@ceramiquecentrale.com for any questions  you have about the workshop.
